On April 12, 2025, Flower Power™ hosted its inaugural awards ceremony at the Exhibit Hall of the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center. This special event celebrated the unsung heroes in our communities who have made meaningful contributions in the fight for climate action.
The ceremony honored individuals whose work has led to measurable environmental progress and helped elevate global conversations around sustainability. By bringing these climate change warriors into the spotlight, we recognized their impact and aimed to inspire others to follow their lead. The 2025 event marked an important milestone in the climate movement and underscored our shared commitment to a more sustainable future.

Katharine Hayhoe is the Chief Climate Scientist at The Nature Conservancy and a Distinguished Professor at Texas Tech University. Named to TIME’s 100 Most Influential People in 2014, she is a prominent speaker on climate change and the author of Saving Us, a book on inspiring climate action.
Professor of Plant Ecology & Conservation at TTU and founder of the Sharma Laboratory, known for her research on plant-soil interactions, as well as conserving rare species and ecosystems impacted by climate change.
